Show Day!

I had a really bad sleep the night before the show. I had just been spray tanned and was concerned I'd get tanner all over the nice pristine white hotel sheets – I brought my own, but I was still worried I would roll in the night and stain theirs. I woke up frequently throughout the night.

I was up at 5am to get ready. I was doing my own hair and makeup, and still wasn't sure how I was going to do my makeup. I was at my hairdresser's Friday morning, before I left Toronto, to get a blow out and attempted to keep some of the style until Saturday, which also added to my sleepless night.

My tan was a challenge. One that continued all day Saturday, throughout the show. It just didn't sink into my skin and turned blotchy, streaky… it just didn't look very good.

I'll upload a post with photos and event happenings later today. In the meantime, here's a video I made the morning of the show….

    • I will. I think it’s because I tried to upload it at Tim Hortons in Windsor. I’ll fix it when I get home.
      Do the other videos work?

  1. Hi Lisa!
I was at the show yesterday to watch my friend Tammy (in the short class in Figure). You looked amazing!! You totally deserved the overall title and I was really happy for you! I didn’t agree with the judging of the short class– did you agree with most of the judging?

    • Hi Kaitlin, thanks for your compliment. I thought the judges were pretty fair. Sometimes judging in any competitive sport can be iffy, and down to what a judge’s personal perspective may be. But, I think the posing by the winner of the short class was spot on. And she looked symmetrical, which is what the judges look for.
In the past I’ve felt the order could be different.
And, when I see what pro judges choose to place at the big shows like Olympia, I question their decision, but they have their agenda and it is what it is.
At the end of the day every competitor that walked onto that stage deserved first place – and are first with their friends and family! We all worked equally as hard to get there. We only have ourselves to answer to if we didn’t bring our “A” game to the stage.
Great that you were there! And thanks for following 🙂

      • Thanks for your response and insight! I’m definitely very proud of my friend Tammy and I think she looked amazing especially considering it was her first show. I’m not a figure competitor or anything (just very interested in it) so I really don’t know much about the judging.

      • Oh, I remember Tammy now. Yeah, she looked amazing. Definitely should have placed higher. But, like I said, judges have their own agenda and see what they see… I sometimes wish I could sit where they are and see the same thing. Maybe people would see it differently too?

  2. Congratulations on your win – you looked amazing from the pictures. Very inspirational. Which is why I nominated you for the Very Inspirational Blogger award! Good luck at you’re next competition

    • I’ve never heard of that – but, thank you so much. I’m totally shocked. I’m glad to have more than just my friends following me lol, that’s all I really wanted.
All the comments and “likes” motivate me!
